Snowflake returned from the break with two solid wins last week. On Thursday they were in Whiteriver facing the Falcons. If Snowflake had any concerns about rust after a long lay-off they were unfounded. The Lobos jumped out to a 28-4 first quarter lead, then extended that cushion to 47-15 at the half. By the end of the third the score was 64 to 19. The final tally was 71-31.
The following night the team traveled to Thatcher where the difference was just four points, with the Lobos coming out on top 57-53 over the fourth ranked Eagles. Snowflake appeared in 30th position in the initial rankings which came out last week, but the two wins should move them up quickly.
This week Snowflake enters into east region play. Wednesday they are slated to host Show Low. The Cougars are one of nine unbeaten 3A boys’ teams heading into this week’s action. Show Low is ranked 11th, but in this rivalry, rankings really don’t mean all that much.
On Friday night the Lobos stay home to entertain Winslow. The Bulldogs are off to a slow start this year, but this time of year anything can happen.
Snowflake enters this week 3-3 in regular season games, and they have a 4-11 overall record. Next Tuesday they will be in Payson.
