The Lady Lobos are off to a bit of a slow start this season with only two wins in six games. Last season’s 3A state runner up club split their first two regular season games with a win at Valley Christian on Nov. 30, followed by a heartbreaking one-point home court loss to Chinle on Tuesday last week. In that contest, the Lobos built a four-point lead through the first period, but gave that back in the second and trailed by two at the half. The two teams matched each other with 11-point outputs in the third, then Chinle held on late to secure the 41-40 win.
Playing in the Pepsi Tournament held in Flagstaff over the weekend, Snowflake won their first game on Thursday afternoon with a 56-22 victory over Arizona Lutheran.
Later that evening they face tournament host Flagstaff and fell to the talented Eagles 51-71. Friday’s only game was a 35-48 set back to 3A North opponent Tuba City. Snowflake had just one game Saturday as well with a 52-66 loss to what is a good 4A Paradise Honors team out of Phoenix.
This week Snowflake will travel to Tuba City for a regular season match up with a talented Lady Warrior team on Thursday. On Friday they will host Northwest Christian in their final game before Christmas.
Snowflake will be in action at the Epic Tourneys New Year’s Classic Tournament hosted by Chandler Prep played on Dec. 28-30.
