The 3A state volleyball championship match featured two of the heavyweights in 3A, with top seeded Snowflake taking on second seeded Valley Christian.
Each of the top two seeds cruised through the semi-final round on Friday afternoon with Snowflake taking down fifth ranked ALA-Gilbert North in three straight games, 25-17, 25-10 and 25-23.
Valley Christian also advanced to the title match in three straight games. They defeated No. 6 Empire 25-21, 25-11 and 25-19.
Valley Christian and Snowflake each just lost one set in their championship match appearance throughout the state tournament.
In the title match, second seeded Valley Christian proved too much for top ranked Snowflake. The Trojans defeated Snowflake in three games with identical scores, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-21 to win the 3A state title.
Snowflake finishes up the season as the state runner-up but still had an amazing overall season. They were 37-3 overall, and unbeaten in regular season play.
