During the Holbrook City Council meeting on Nov. 11, the council approved the purchase of a new fire truck from Rosenbauer Firefighting Technology for $266,141.57, with Vice Mayor Francie Payne, and council member Adam Marsh absent.

Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department Chief Alex Baker commented on how this new truck will most likely replace two trucks, as a pumper and a rescue truck. This truck will have a 400-gallon tank and pump at 150 gallons per minute and 100 pound per square inch. “What do we do with the old truck,” Councilman Dixson asked Baker. “We’ll turn them over to the city and they’ll auction them off,” Baker responded. This truck will come fully equipped with the equipment necessary. The truck will be delivered to Phoenix, and it will be picked up from there.

City Manager Ted Soltis announced to the Council that a grant for the airport was received in the amount of $170,000 from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT).

Soltis also stated that grants were received for the city parks for $850,000. “A lot of our park equipment is very old, the playground equipment in Hunt Park is over 25 years old and it’s starting to fall apart,” Soltis stated. The grants will go towards; baseball field fence, dugouts, stands, basketball courts, picnic tables, playground equipment, skate park, tennis courts, pickleball courts and a new ramada at Hunt Park; new heater and resurfacing of the pool; a trail going around the back of the pool connecting all the way around the park with lighting; new picnic tables, equipment, and rebuilding the basketball court at Lewis Park; and new picnic tables and playground equipment at Lisitzky Park.
