By Greg Perkins While neither Holbrook soccer program is headed to the state playoffs this year, they both showed drastic improvement over the course of the season and had tremendous growth over last year’s winless campaigns. The boys team won four games this year against eight losses. They also won their final two regular season matches. They defeated Round Valley 5-4 on Saturday, Oct. 23, then took down St. Johns 8-1 this past Wednesday night. Holbrook also won three of four matches in the Old Pueblo Soccer Classic in Tucson marking their best record in that tournament in several years. The Lady Roadrunners also improved immensely over the season. After going winless last year, they posted three region wins this year. Holbrook shut out Sedona 4-0 earning their first shut out win ever. They defeated Camp Verde, 3-1 and Page, 2-1 in their other wins. They finished the season on a bit of a losing streak but injuries and COVID protocols had an impact over the course of the final two weeks.
