By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s boys’ soccer team split two matches played last week. Hosting Blue Ridge on Tuesday they fell 1-6. The following day they remained at home again but this time came out with a 9-1 win over visiting Holbrook. That split leaves the Lobos with an overall regular season record of 8-2. They enter this week’s action ranked fifth in the 2A power points. Snowflake has two matches left in the regular season. This week they will play in St. Johns on Wednesday. Next week they wrap up the regular season with a home field match up against Round Valley. If the Lobos can at least earn a split in their final two games they should qualify for state tournament play. In boys’ soccer, the top eight teams in the rankings advance to the state tournament bracket. The Lady Lobos cling to the fifth position in the power rankings with a 6-3 regular season mark. They earned that sixth win last Tuesday night with a 5-0 shut out road win in Holbrook. This week they were slated to host Round Valley on Tuesday. Next week they will wrap up the regular season with two matches. On the 26th they host Show Low, then two days later will play the regular season finale on their home field as well when they host St. Johns. St. Johns and Show Low are both currently ranked above the Lobos in the third and fourth positions respectively. In girls’ soccer, only the top six in the overall rankings advance to the post season. The top two overall seeds essentially get a first round bye.
