By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s boys’ soccer team played two close matches last week, splitting one-goal decisions. Playing at sixth ranked Blue Ridge on Wednesday the top ranked Lobos won 3-2 keeping their unbeaten streak intact. However, playing in Camp Verde on Saturday their regular season seven game winning streak was snapped with a 3-4 overtime loss to the Cowboys. Camp Verde was fifth ranked with just one loss and one tie on their season and proved worthy of their top-five ranking. With the loss, the Lobos will more than likely drop to second place in the rankings behind Chino Valley. This week they look to get back on track with two matches. After hosting sixth ranked Blue Ridge on Tuesday, they will welcome 19th ranked Holbrook on Wednesday. Next Wednesday they will travel to St. Johns in what will be their penultimate regular season contest. The Lady Lobos are clinging to the sixth and final spot in the girl’s rankings. They won their only match last week picking up a 5-2 upset win over fourth ranked Blue Ridge on Thursday in Lakeside. After playing at No. 9 Holbrook on Tuesday night, the Ladies will have a week off to prepare for their home match with Round Valley on the 19th. Snowflake is 4-3 heading into this week’s game with Holbrook. They have just four matches left in the regular season. In 2A girls Fall soccer only six teams qualify for post-season play.
