By Greg Perkins Holbrook’s girls’ soccer team had their first shut out win of the program’s history when they defeated Sedona 4-0 on Tuesday. Playing in Sedona, the Roadrunners played their best game of the season thus far putting up four goals. They also held Sedona to just a handful of shot-on-goal attempts, all of which were blocked by keeper Samara Kennedy. After hosting Northland Prep on Tuesday Lady Birds will welcome in Payson on Saturday evening at 6 p.m. Holbrook’s boys team was unable to keep their momentum from last week’s 9-1 win over Page going into this week. Hosting Snowflake on Wednesday night the Roadrunners played well and battled hard against the Lobos. Snowflake led 6-2 at the half, but the Roadrunners showed no quit and matched the Lobos with two second half goals each in the 8-4 loss. That loss gives Holbrook a 1-2 season mark. This week Holbrook will travel to Blue Ridge on Wednesday. On Friday and Saturday they will compete in the Show Low Invitational. Friday’s matches will be against Snowflake and Show Low. Saturday’s schedule has them playing Round Valley and Benson. Next week Holbrook plays St. Johns on Wednesday and will host Payson on Thursday.
