By K. Conner Last Wednesday the Bulldogs hosted the Show Low Cougars with the Cougars starting the inning earning two runs. In the bottom of the first, a Jace Lyons single allowed an RBI to get Winslow on the board, with Lyons stealing home to tie the score. A walked in run would give Winslow the lead, 3-2. A fielder’s choice allowed a run to score followed by Chris Arellano scoring on an error to give Winslow a 5-2 lead. In the top of the second inning, Colten Yeager’s triple along with two RBIs narrowed the Winslow led to 5-4. In the bottom of the third inning, Justus Martin hit a double with an RBI. Teagan Chacon had a single with an RBI, Arellano had a double with two RBI’s along with a pickoff attempt at first base that allowed him to score on an error giving Winslow a 11-4 lead. In the top of the fourth inning, Colton Yeager’s single would score an RBI then on a Winslow error would allow a run to score to again narrow the Winslow lead 11-6. In the bottom of the fourth, Chacon’s single would score an RBI for a 12-6 Winslow lead. In the top of the sixth inning Show Low’s bats would come alive starting with a Yeager double with two RBI’s followed by a Cougar Cooke single with RBI, who would end up scoring after an error and tagging up. Ruger Seeley would reach base on an error and allow a run to score, narrowing the lead to just one run 12-11, Winslow. In the top of the seventh with two outs, Blake Doubler would double and score to give Show Low a one-run lead 13-12. In the bottom of the seventh inning Lyons would have a walk off double with two RBI’s giving Winslow the 14-13 win. Winslow used three pitchers with a total of 12 hits, 13 runs, and nine strikeouts and there were seven errors. Show Low’s Seeley went the distance with 13 hits, 14 runs and two strikeouts and there were six errors.
