Softball 1 Snowflake

By Greg Perkins A pair of midweek wins over Holbrook and a Friday victory over Blue Ridge has the Lady Lobos sitting at 11-1 on the season and should keep them ranked inside the top five in the 3A rankings heading into this week. Snowflake hosted Holbrook on Tuesday last week and took care of the visiting Roadrunners 13-3 in six innings. Holbrook held a brief lead after scoring three runs in the top of the second, but the Lobos matched that in the home half, then added eight more runs in the later innings to get the win. Anna Berger led the way at the plate going 3 for 3, with two doubles. LilliAnn Holllom was 2 for 4; and Jordyn Butler, Maren Berger, Rylee Wengert, Taylee Craner, Zoie Pearce, and Emily Davis each had one hit. Anna Berger pitched two innings, giving up three runs on two hits with a walk and six strikeouts. Younger sibling Maren Berger worked four innings allowing no runs, two hits, one walk and also struck out six. Their second meeting on Wednesday in Holbrook was a little closer but Snowflake still prevailed 9-2. Maren and Anna Berger each went 2 for 5 and each had a double. Butler was 2 for 4, as was Davis. Hollom went 1 for 3. In this game, Anna Berger went the distance in the circle giving up just two runs on two hits and amassed an impressive 14 strikeouts. Playing in Blue Ridge on Friday the Lady Lobos scored three in the first, added two in the second and another in the top of the fourth to lead 6-0 before the Yellowjackets got on the board with a single run in the bottom of the fourth. Snowflake put the game out of reach with four runs in the six and went on to win the game 10-2 and remain perfect in east region play. After hosting Blue Ridge on Tuesday, the Lobos will entertain Show Low on Friday. They will then face the Lady Cougars in Show Low next Tuesday.
