By Greg Perkins Even the best teams eventually falter and Snowflake dropped their first game of the season on Friday night in Winslow, where the Bulldogs held off a furious Lobo rally handing the Lobos a 64-63 loss. Prior to that game Snowflake met little resistance from Payson on Tuesday defeating the Longhorns 76-50. After their loss to the Bulldogs on Friday, Snowflake showed the mark of a good team with a scorching bounce-back win over the Eagles by a final of 83-64. The Lobos will put a wrap on their regular season on Tuesday with a short trip to St. Johns. An expected win there would leave the Lobos most likely ranked inside the top three in the overall 3A rankings. They will host a first-round 3A state tournament game on Wednesday of next week. With a win, they would host a second-round game next Saturday. The first three rounds of the state tournament will be held at sites of the higher-seeded teams, so the Lobos are in a good position for a lot of post season success.
