By Greg Perkins Snowflake’s volleyball team is rolling into the state tournament on a 14-match winning streak, thanks to picking up victories in their final two regular season matches played last week. Hosting Show Low on Nov. 4, the Ladies won in a rout 25-14, 25-19 and 25-15 over the Cougars. Reagan Olson continued her season long dominance with 18 kills, 5 aces and 13 digs. Ellie Lundberg added 6 kills, 8 digs and 7 assists. Rylee Wengert did her part with 11 digs. Kimberlee Eich and Maci Penrod both finished with 13 assists. Snowflake’s first match of the season was on the road at Thatcher. The Eagles were bookend opponents for Snowflake this year with Thatcher visiting Snowflake on Thursday. Thatcher has an impressive record of 13-3, but thanks to their 1-3 loss to the Lobos, two of their three losses are now credited to Snowflake. Snowflake’s impressive record of 15-1 has earned them a first round bye in the 3A State volleyball tournament which gets underway on Tuesday this week, with the first round play-in games. The Lobos won’t know their opponent for the official first round of the playoffs until the completion of the state play-in games. Next to top seeded Northwest Christian who is unbeaten, the Lobos have the second best overall record. Their one loss came against the Crusaders from Northwest Christian. The Lobos will begin state tournament action on Saturday. If they can pick up wins in the first two rounds, they would advance to the semi-final round on Nov. 21.
