Volleyball Snow

By Greg Perkins Snowflake may have a new head volleyball coach in Karen Hargrove, but nothing about their season results thus far is new for the program. The Lady Lobos were 7-1 heading into this week’s action. Snowflake played three matches last week winning all three and didn’t give up a single game until they took on American Leadership on Saturday. The trio of matches began on Tuesday in Payson where they were dominant winning in three games, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-17. Macee LeSeur had a strong game at the net finishing with 16 kills. Reagan Olson and Anna Berger each helped with 8. Olson led in digs with 11, while Rylee Wengert added 9. Kimberlee Eich finished with 20 assists and Ellie Lundberg added 13. Two days later the team traveled to Lakeside to face rival Blue Ridge. The Yellowjackets are having a good season, however, Snowflake dominated them in three games, 25-17, 25-19, and 25-16. LeSueur had 14 kills and Olson finished with 12. Kimberlee Eich finished with 16 assists. On Saturday Snowflake stepped outside of region play with a long road trip to Gilbert where they met up with American Leadership Academy Gilbert North. The Eagles were 6-1 on the season and figured to give Snowflake a battle. ALA took the first game 25-20, then the Lobos flipped the tables winning game two 25-20. The Lobos won game three 25-15 but dropped the fourth game 20-25. The decisive fifth game went to the Lobos with a 15-11 outcome. After playing in Show Low on Tuesday, the Lobos will host Winslow on Thursday. On Saturday afternoon they host ALA Ironwood.
