With the number of COVID-19 cases increasing throughout the state Navajo County is reporting 3,009 cases and 95 deaths as of press time. Locally, Winslow has 216 cases; Holbrook, 54; Snowflake, 22; Joseph City, 11; and Taylor is listed as having six to 10 cases. These figures were noted according to zip code on the Arizona Department of Health Services website. Gov. Doug Ducey has left it for cities and towns to determine whether or not to mandate that masks be worn. To date, no communities in the region have made that a requirement although both Winslow and Holbrook may make announcements during their council meetings this week. Nearby, the City of Flagstaff has made the wearing of masks or face coverings a requirement in public areas.
