At 2:05 p.m. on Wednesday, June 17, Holbrook Police officers responded to the area of Navajo Blvd., at the BNSF Railroad crossing regarding a male subject waving and pointing a handgun at several drivers seated in their cars waiting for a passing train. Witnesses reported the suspect was driving a white colored Ford pick-up truck with a “Beware of Dog” sign attached to the tailgate. Officers arrived in the area and located a vehicle fitting the description provided by witnesses. Officers conducted a high-risk stop on the vehicle in the 100 block of East Bucket of Blood Street. The driver, identified as Lance Joe, 35, of Greasewood was detained. Video footage obtained from a 16-year-old victim showed Joe waving a pistol in the cab of his truck then exiting his vehicle, with the pistol and making threats toward the victim and his family. Witnesses said Joe pointed the handgun towards the victim’s truck and other drivers in the area. During the investigation Joe admitted there was a handgun inside the cab of his vehicle. He also stated the victim had “pulled too close to his truck” and it upset him. An inventory of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of the handgun and other weapons, dangerous drugs, marijuana, drug paraphernalia and ammunition. Joe was charged with possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, misconduct involving a weapon, threatening and intimidating, and failure to appear, two counts each of promoting prison contraband, possession of drug paraphernalia and aggravated assault, and three counts of possession of a weapon by a prohibited possessor in connection with the incident. He was booked into the Navajo County Jail.
