The WBCA (Women’s Basketball Coaching Association) in association with MaxPreps announced their High School Player of the Week for Region 7 for the week of Dec. 3 through Jan. 5 as Holbrook’s Matehya Aberle for her performance at the Chandler Prep Tournament. The junior forward averaged 17.7 points per game over the four games and, along with teammate Madison Chappell, was named to the all-tournament team from Holbrook. The Lady Roadrunners lost in the tournament championship game to Gonzaga Prep of Washington. Region 7 includes the states of Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. Coach Greg Perkins had this to say regarding the announcement, “This is a nice award for Matehya to receive. It is a result of her hard work during the off season. It is also an accolade for her teammates which have been doing a great job of getting her the ball.”
