The holiday break didn’t resurrect the Lady Wildcat’s season as the Ladies dropped all three games played last week, although two of the three were close outcomes.

Joseph City played at Mogollon on Tuesday last week, and quickly found themselves overmatched against their old nemesis. The Mustangs poured in 23 first period points and led 31-14 at the half. Joseph City netted just three in the final stanza of the game before the score settled at 57-27 with the Mustangs on top.

Wednesday’s home game with Mayer was much closer but Joseph City still found themselves on the wrong side of a 41-39 final outcome.

Joseph City has three wins this season, with one of those wins coming against Ash Fork/Seligman. Playing in Ash Fork on Saturday the Wildcats nearly came out on top again. However, the Spartans managed to earn a split with Joseph City after taking the game 31-30.

With the three losses, Joseph City’s overall record falls to 3-14. They are 2-7 in power point games and entered Saturday’s game ranked 24th in the 1A standings. They will need to climb into the top 16 in the overall standings throughout the next few weeks if they want to qualify for the state tournament.

After playing at Grand Canyon on Tuesday, the Wildcats will host Round Valley on Friday. Next Tuesday they will play at Williams.
