Head Coach Joe Clare has his Lady Lobos playing very well at the mid-point of the season. Snowflake claimed the championship in the 16-team Platinum bracket of the Chandler Prep tournament over the weekend.
The Lobos have playing stellar defense this season and in their four victories they only gave up 40 points once and that was in the title game, which they won over Tanque Verde.
The Lobos opened the tournament on Thursday evening with a 49-25 win over Mogollon. That win advanced them into the quarterfinal round where they defeated Valley Lutheran on Friday afternoon.
The semi-final game was on Friday night and may have been the Lobos best defensive effort of the four games resulting in a 59-24 win over Paradise Honors to advance to the championship game on Saturday afternoon.
Tanque Verde met the Lobos in the championship, having dispatched Agua Fria, Mountain View and Gilbert Christian on their way to the title game.
Snowflake came out strong playing aggressive on both ends of the floor, which resulted in a 54-45 championship game win.
Macee Papa was named the tournament MVP for the Platinum Bracket and fellow sophomore, Kamri Ballard was also selected to the all-tournament team.
With the four wins the Lady Lobos advanced their overall season record to 11-3. They are 3-2 in regular season power point contests. The Lobos will return to regular season action on Thursday when they travel to Alchesay. Friday night they will host St. Johns. Next Tuesday they will begin East Region play when the team welcomes Blue Ridge.
