The Lady Wildcats played in two tournaments in the first three weeks of the season notching just one victory in eight games of action. Returning to regular season play last week Joseph City picked up their first regular season victory of the campaign with a 35-19 home court win over Ash Fork/Seligman.
They were unable to maintain that momentum in their next outing on Friday when they dropped a 34-60 home court decision to Grand Canyon.
The Lady Cats played well through the first eight minutes holding a one-point lead heading into the second, but from that point on the game belonged to the Phantoms who outscored Joseph City by 27 points the final three periods.
After hosting Valley Sanders on Monday, the Wildcats will remain home this week to play St. Johns on Thursday, then welcome in Northland Prep on Friday in what will be their final contest before the holiday break. Joseph City will resume the season on Jan. 7 when they travel to Heber to face the Mustangs.
Joseph City entered this week with a 1-2 regular season record.
