Holbrook poet Bea Darbe has recently released her fifth and final book of poetry. A Whispering Word is a heartfelt collection of 120 poems based upon events and heartaches of people she has met and who have related to her the experiences in their lives.

“This one is like the other ones in that they are based on feelings of stories people have told me that I formed into poetry. Some of them are pretty deep feelings,” said Darby, who added that she was really happy with the end result.

Darbe began writing after retirement. In her first book, With Each Word – I Follow, she wrote a lot of poetry pertaining to her observations in nature but as people recognized her talent and related personal events that affected their lives they asked her to put those feelings into words. Darbe doesn’t write about the specific events or people, but the emotional impact they produce. “Everyone has the same feelings at one point in their lives,” explained Darbe. “There’s so much hurt and there’s so much pain felt by a lot of people, I try not to personalize it towards one person.”
