Playing in Heber on Monday against the fourth ranked Lady Mustangs was too much for the three win and 30th ranked Wildcats to handle. The Mustangs used their taller lineup to build a nine point first period lead, then really closed the door on Joseph City in the second where they outscored them 26-3 in the eight minute time frame to lead 40-8 at the half. The Mustangs cruised to the 64-17 win.

Friday night’s final game of the season was a home loss to visiting Grand Canyon. The Phantoms built a 20-9 first period edge, but the Wildcats played better from that point. Joseph City was outscored by just eight points over the final three quarters, but it still resulted in a 60-41 final loss of the season.

The Wildcats still have an outside chance of making the post season but they would have to at least get into the championship game of the 1A Central regional tournament held this weekend. The Wildcats will enter the tournament ranked fifth in the region. If they can make the title game they would automatically advance to the state tournament.
