The candidates were presented to the public in an open house last month and included Theresa Coleman of Kasson, Minn., Jason Foutz of Holbrook, Glenn Irby of Apopka, Fla., and Tedmond Soltis of Wilcox. All have previous administrative experience.

Each of the candidates, aside from Foutz who is currently employed by the city and already involved in assessing code violations and working with property owners to improve their properties, found Holbrook a unique city with a lot of potential for growth and development. Coleman who is the current city manager in Kasson, is familiar with the area as a former resident of Flagstaff. For Irby, who was replaced in his position in Apopka in July of this year due to a change in leadership, visiting Holbrook was his first experience of the Southwest. Soltis, who was terminated from his position as manager of Wilcox in March due to difference of opinions with the council, is already familiar with the region.

The city has gone without a permanent city manager since the resignation of Ray Alley in July of 2016. In the interim, Finance Director Randy Sullivan served for one year and currently the position is being held by City Clerk Cher Reyes.

It is anticipated that the council will make an announcement regarding their selection during the Feb. 12 council meeting but that is not definite.
