Snowflake High School boys soccer team enters this week ranked just outside the top eight in the 3A rankings in ninth place. They need to climb into the top eight in the final standings if they want to make the post season. The Lobos had three matches left to achieve that state tournament goal.

Snowflake split their two matches played last week. They dropped a hard fought decision to the Cougars in Show Low on Wednesday last week with a 0-1 loss. The Lobos bounced back in fine form on Saturday cruising to an 8-0 win over visiting Desert Christian.

After hosting Payson on Monday and playing at St. Johns on Tuesday of this week, Snowflake will close out the regular season on Wednesday, Oct. 17 when they host the winless Basis School from Flagstaff.

For the Lobos to reach the post season, they will most likely need to win all three matches and still possibly get some outside help.

The Lady Lobos find themselves ranked sixth in the standings, however, only four teams qualify for state in 2A fall soccer. Snowflake picked up a 7-0 win over Payson on Tuesday of last week, but dropped a 2-4 road decision at Round Valley two days later.

Like the boys team, they have three matches left. On Thursday they are slated to play at St. Johns. Next Tuesday they will host Show Low then they will close out the season at home on Oct. 17 when they host Blue Ridge. Snowflake is currently 4-5 in regular season matches.
