Despite their regular season mark of 0-7 after Tuesday night’s 0-8 home field shut out loss to Blue Ridge, Holbrook’s Lady Roadrunner soccer team found recent success at the Show Low Tournament held Sept. 14-15. Holbrook defeated Snowflake at the tournament 3-2 marking the first time Holbrook has defeated the Lobos in the history of the Roadrunner program. Holbrook led that match 2-0 at the half and held on for the one goal win, their only one of the tournament. Holbrook scored off of Jaden Pack’s corner kicks, along with goals from Shay Sands, Georgia Benally and Eliana McChesney.
Pack was named to the all-tournament team for her play over the two days. Also according to assistant coach Victor Paz, Samara Kennedy and Holly Hill both did fantastic jobs as the team’s goalies.
“Everyone is doing a great job. We have a good mixture of young and old, but the girls are working hard and we have a great group of girls overall and we are proud of them. They deserved that win against a well coached Lobo team,” stated Coach Paz.
After playing in the Thunder in the Dome tournament in Round Valley last weekend, Holbrook returned to regular season play on Tuesday when they hosted Show Low.
