“Corn’s Up Buttercup!” was the theme for Taylor’s Sweet Corn Festival held on Sept. 1. Starting with a parade in the morning down Center Street, the day continued with the Arts and Crafts Festival at the Taylor Rodeo Park and ended with a ranch rodeo and fireworks.

Lots of corn was sold and eaten during the festival, as farmers celebrated a good crop of sweet corn this year. Led by the Grand Marshalls, Ben and Sherree Lewis, it was estimated that more than 3,000 folks turned out to see the parade down Center Street.

Kynlee Hargrove and Drew Brubaker were crowned the royalty for the day. They both were awarded a bicycle as part of their prize.

In the float competition, Silver Creek Mortuary took first place with Black Diamond Auto Glass receiving second and the Centennial Sixth Ward receiving third.

Charlotte Hatch, executive director of the Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce said that the day went well. The vendors were pleased with how the festival went and while the number of parade entries were average, she is hoping to come up with a way for better participation at next year’s event.
