Photo by Linda KorWhile residents of the Navajo County have been grateful for the much-needed moisture, heavy rains have also caused problems. Not only was Joseph City’s Main Street closed due to heavy flooding last Thursday evening, the westbound lanes of Interstate 40 that crossed over the flooded wash in Joseph City were as well. The Joseph City Fire Department became an emergency shelter and provided sand bags for residents who were battling the encroaching waters. Joseph City resident Doyle Hansen (pictured) said his home off of Main Street was spared using sandbags but his property was submerged under a foot or more of floodwaters.
