On the afternoon of April 9, Arizona State Troopers conducted a traffic stop on a black Chrysler 300 sedan, leading to the arrest of a homicide suspect and his possible accomplices. Earlier on April 9, 2018, troopers were given Attempt to Locate (ATL) information of a vehicle containing several occupants who were involved in a homicide in Pleasant Hill, Calif. A trooper, parked in the median of I-40 just east of Holbrook, located a vehicle he believed to be a vehicle containing the occupants described in the ATL. The trooper conducted a traffic stop for a traffic violation on the vehicle on eastbound I-40 at Milepost 295. The trooper was able to get the driver to come back to him where he was told one of the passengers had the same name as the homicide suspect. Around this time, a second trooper arrived on-scene and assisted removing two of the other passengers. As they were working to remove the final passenger, he jumped into the driver’s seat and fled the scene. The second arriving trooper pursued the suspect eastbound towards New Mexico while the original trooper maintained custody of the three suspects. The pursuit entered into New Mexico where law enforcement there was able to spike the vehicle, get it stopped and take the driver into custody. The fourth passenger who fled the scene into New Mexico was identified as Keith Verdell Jones, 29, of Cussetta, Ga., a suspect in the murder of Oshry Elor who was killed during an illegal drug transaction. He was booked into the McKinley County Jail in N.M. Luther Lee, 23, of Cusseta, Ga., was booked into the Navajo County Jail on charges of conspiracy to commit robbery and murder. The other two individuals, Terry Lee Jones, 22, of Phoenix City, Ala., and Gloria Tome Stevens, 22, of Cusseta, Ga., were released from custody without charges.
