The Lady Lobos sandwiched one win in between a pair of losses last week and entered the weekend ranked 12th in the 3A standings with a regular season mark balanced at 7-7.

Playing in Winslow on April 10, they fell under the 10-run rule by a final of 11-1 in five innings. Winslow led 8-1 after two innings and the Lobos just couldn’t get anything going against Winslow pitchers.

Snowflake finished the game with only four hits. Jashlee Schneider went 1 for 2; Taylee Craner, 1 for 1; Kaylee Thomas, 1 for 3; and Heather Whipple was 1 for 2, with a double.

Rylee Hensley pitched three innings giving up four runs on four hits with four strikeouts. Sydney Bauer worked two innings allowing eight runs on five hits with three walks.

The next day the Lobos bounced back with a 17-6 win at St. Johns. Both teams scored twice in the first inning, then Snowflake pushed across six runs in the top of the second. The Redskins countered with four ending their scoring with six runs. Snowflake increased their advantage with two in the third then really put the game out of reach with seven runs in the top of the sixth.

Rylee Hensley went 4 for 5, with a pair of home runs. Bauer was 4 for 5 with a double, Jordyn Butler went 2 for 4, with a double; Thomas was 2 for 5; Whipple, 2 for 3; Jordyn Powers, 1 for 3; Hallie McCray, 1 for 3; and Lanee Penrod, 1 for 2.

Bauer worked six innings giving up six runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and walked two.

Snowflake couldn’t keep that momentum going on Friday when they fell on the road in Payson, where the Longhorns won 18-3 in five innings. Payson took the air out of the game early scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Snowflake gathered themselves a little with three runs in the second, but they couldn’t keep the Longhorns from scoring more. Payson added two in the second, four in the third, and ended the game with two more in the fourth.

Snowflake was held to just four hits in the game with Thomas accounting for half, going 2 for 3. Penrod was 1 for 1; and Whipple went 1 for 2, with a double.

Bauer struggled early working just two-thirds of an inning allowing 10 runs on eight hits with two strikeouts and walked two. Rylee Hensley pitched three and one-third innings, giving up eight runs on six hits with four walks.

After hosting Holbrook on Tuesday, the Lobos will host Round Valley on Wednesday. On Friday, they play at Show Low. The team will wrap up the regular season next Monday when they host Blue Ridge. Snowflake will most likely be involved in the state play-in game, which will be held on April 25 with seeds nine through 16 hosting seeds seventeen through 24.
