Joseph City won two of three games played last week moving their season mark to 5-8 and they climbed a few spots in the 1A rankings being ranked ninth as of Saturday.
Hosting Mogollon on Monday of last week, the Lady Wildcats broke a five game losing skid with an 18-12 win over their rival. They kept that good fortune going in the first game of Friday’s double-header with Mayer, defeating the visiting Wildcats 7-6 in the first of the twin bill. The second game had plenty of scoring, but Joseph City found themselves on the wrong end of a 22-7 final outcome.
After their return visit to Mogollon on Tuesday, the Lady Wildcats will host Northland Prep on Friday. On Saturday they travel to Show Low. They will close out their regular season at Williams on Tuesday of next week.
The 1A state playoffs begin for teams ranked inside the top 16 on April 28.
Joseph City should remain inside the top 16 and qualify for the state tournament. One or two more wins in their final stretch should cement that position.
