Softball 2 Holbrook

The Lady Roadrunners returned from spring break in fine form with an 11-1 five inning win over visiting Round Valley on Tuesday afternoon.

The Elks drew first blood scoring once in the top of the opening inning, but Holbrook quickly gained control of the game with four runs in the home half of the frame. Holbrook added another in the third, then put the game out of reach with three in the fourth and another three in the fifth to end it under the 10-run rule.

Jovon Boling led the charge at the plate going 3 for 3; Carla Plumb was 3 for 4; Kallee Reidhead and Sydney Plumb each went 2 for 4; Canela Queiruga and Madison Chapell both went 1 for 3; as did Makenzi Thompson. Extra base hits belonged to Reidhead with a home run, Thompson and Sydney Plumb each had doubles.

Destany Begay got the job done in the circle where she allowed just the one run on six hits with one strikeout and one walk in the 24 batters she faced.

With the win the Lady Roadrunners improved to 5-1 in power point contests and they are currently 11-6 overall. The team will have a week off in their schedule to prepare for Show Low next Tuesday and Snowflake will come to Holbrook the following Friday.
