Robert Elwood Hildebrand, aged 75 years, passed away on Nov. 22, 2017, at his house in Flagstaff. A short service and presentation by the American Legion Post 37 Color Guard will begin at 1 p.m., on Saturday, Dec. 9, followed by a celebration of life and friendship at the Empty Pockets Saloon, located at 2210 Navajo Blvd., in Holbrook. Bob, as his friends knew him, was born on March 26, 1942. He attended High School at Susquehannock High School in Glen Rock, Penn., graduating in 1961. After graduation Bob joined the United States Air Force, serving in Vietnam, Germany and various stateside postings. Bob retired from the Air Force after 20 years (and three days, let’s not forget those) of service. After working various jobs he retired fully. His retirement years were filled with joy and happiness due in no small part to traveling with his wife Karen, participating in the Holbrook American Legion Color Guard and spending time with his grandson, Orrin. He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Karen Ann Hildebrand; his son, Robert Russell Hildebrand; and his grandson, Orrin James Othello Hildebrand. The family asks that any memorial contributions be made to The Wounded Warrior Project.
