The Snowflake boys’ soccer team finished the regular season ranked fourth in 2A, and will host No. 5 Phoenix Country Day in the first round of the state tournament at 6 o’clock tonight (Oct. 25).
The Lobos closed out their regular season last week with a 3-2 win over Page on Tuesday evening. With that win the Lobos finished the regular season with a 9-3 overall record.
If they can get past Phoenix Country Day in round one, they would face either top ranked Chino Valley or eighth ranked The Gregory School at 5 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 27, at Campo Verde High School.
The Lady Lobos came up just short in their quest to make the state playoffs. In 2A girls’ soccer only four teams advance to the state tournament. Snowflake finished fifth in the rankings with a regular season record of 6-6.
They split their final two matches. Last Tuesday they were victorious at Blue Ridge by a final of 2-0. The following day they needed to upset Show Low to move the Lady Cougars out of the No. 4 position, but came up short in a 2-0 loss.
In the girls’ state bracket, No. 1 Northland Prep will face No. 4 Show Low, while No. 2 Round Valley will match up with No. 3 Chino Valley.
