Volleyball Holb

Holbrook’s up and down volleyball season continued along its bumpy way last week as the Lady Roadrunners split the two matches they played. They won in four games on Tuesday evening at Show Low, then traveled south again on Thursday where they fell to top ranked Snowflake, also in four games.

With the split Holbrook moved its regular season record to 7-9. The only way the Roadrunners can balance their season mark at .500 would be to win their final matches this week. After hosting a struggling Winslow team on Tuesday for Senior Night, they will put a wrap on the regular season on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Payson.

The Roadrunners entered this week ranked 16th in power points. If they can remain at that level or move up, they would host the “play in” game on Tuesday, Oct. 31. If they dip to 17th or below, they will be on the road for that Halloween contest. The Roadrunners easily defeated Winslow in their first meeting this season, but fell at home to Payson in an earlier contest. The final 3A power point rankings won’t be posted until Sunday morning. By then the Roadrunners will know if they will be at home for one final time, or if they will be traveling with the hopes of making the state tournament.
