The regular Snowflake Men’s Golf Club outing took place last Thursday. The game was a two-man team best ball event where members were paired by random drawing. In a best ball game, both golfers play the hole and the better of the two scores determines the team score. At Snowflake, the weekly Men’s Club competitions vary from week to week, comprised of a combination of individual and team events. Most games incorporate golfers’ handicaps, which are established based on past scores. The handicap system is set up to even the playing field and give everyone an equal chance. Here were the winners in last Thursday’s Team Best Ball game. Net scores were determined after deducting the golfers’ handicaps: First place was Daryl Doyle and Lloyd Wolfe, with a score of 55. Second place was Dan Dorough and Jim Sipple, with a score of 59. Third place was Gene Lippard and Keith Foster, with a score of 60. Skins winners with a handicap below 20 included, Daryl Doyle hole No.1; Mike Foley, No.18; Glynn Gordon, No. 5; Ryk Griffin, No. 11; and Tony Reyher, No. 10. Skins winners with a handicap of 20 and above included, Tom Bergman holes No. 11 and No. 17; Jim Sipple, No. 9 and No. 12; Keith Foster, No. 6 and No. 13; and Dan Dorough, No. 7. Chip-in pot winners included, Don Ottmann, hole No. 6; Keith Foster, No. 7; Tony Reyher, No. 10; and Ray Cox, No. 17. Snowflake’s Walking Wednesday nine-hole event takes place at 1 p.m. each Wednesday. This game is a split pot game with half of the pot going to the gross score winner (no handicap applied) and half to the net score winner (handicap is applied). Last Wednesday’s gross score winners included, Glynn Gordon, 35, and Mike Foley, 40. The net score winners included, Tom Black, 30, and Daryl Doyle, 34.
