Hosting top ranked Mogollon on Friday night’s regular season finale, the Wildcats knew they would have their hands full. What they may not have expected was for the Mustang’s Devon McLean to have a career night. The senior finished the night with 320 yards rushing and four touchdowns. Seth Reidhead had 141 yards on 10 carries, and Trey Tenney also reached the century mark with 139 yards on 11 rushes. In total the Mustangs amassed 600 total yards on the ground in the 64-22 road win.

Despite the loss the Wildcats have still earned a state tournament bid. They will be the 11th overall seed in the 12-team bracket and will face Trivium Prep Academy at 6 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 21, in Goodyear. The Crimson Knights are the 6th overall seed in the 1A bracket. If the Wildcats can get the upset they would advance to take on 3rd seeded Superior on Oct. 28.
