After the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad was laid in 1881, 300,000 pounds of wool was shipped from Holbrook. By 1896, the freight depot was handling about 1.1 million pounds of wool a year, along with cattle and sheep. Here, mules haul their heavy loads into the rail station in 1900.
