There will be fun for all ages at this weekend’s Route 66 Festival at Gillespie Park in Holbrook.

At 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, a cornhole competition will pit teams against each other to win a set of handcrafted cornhole game boards, courtesy of the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department.

From 12 to 1 p.m., kids 16 and under can compete in the Hot Wheel Challenge, where they can select a new Hot Wheels car to keep and compete in races, with trophies for the winner courtesy of the Holbrook Police Department.

Kids 12 and under can also create their own cardboard car to drive in a parade hosted by the Holbrook Chamber of Commerce beginning at 1:30 p.m. Cardboard and supplies for the cars can be used at the event or picked up from 9 a.m. to 12 noon through Friday, June 9, at the chamber office at the historic courthouse.

The Route 66 Dolls will be on hand to host a Min-Pin competition for girls who dress the part beginning at 1:30 p.m. There are two entry categories, one for ages 2 to 5 and another for ages 6 to 10, with a $5 entry fee for each. The girls can also get free ‘50s hair styling by Sonya Brinkerhoff prior to the competition.
