The Lady Lobos used a big fifth inning to pull away from Blue Ridge last Monday night in their regular season finale, defeating the Lady Yellowjackets 15-3. That win moved them into the seventh overall seed in the 3A state playoffs with a 13-5 regular season record.
As the seventh seed they got past 10th seeded Chinle in the opening round of the playoffs last Saturday behind a strong pitching performance from Breklee Tanner, who gave up just one hit in the 10-0 shutout.
Snowflake now faces second seeded Yuma Catholic at 7 p.m. on Friday, May 5, at the Rose Mofford Complex in Phoenix. Yuma advanced to the second round with a 12-5 win over Page last Saturday afternoon.
If the Lobos can pull the upset, they would face either No. 11 Sabino or No. 14 Sahuarita in the semifinal round on Saturday morning, May 6. The championship game will be played on Tuesday night, May 9, at the Farrington Softball Stadium at Arizona State University in Tempe.
