The Wildcats put together a fine week, going 4-0 in their games last week, including a doubleheader sweep over region foe Seligman.

The Cats started their week on Tuesday with a 7-2 road win in Williams. Joseph City opened the scoring with three runs in the third, then added another three in the fourth. The Vikings scored their two runs in the fourth.

For the Wildcats, Troy Poudrier went 2 for 3 at the plate; Kolton McCormick, 2 for 4 with a home run; Jesse Hulsey, 1 for 2; Bryndon Buckley, 1 for 3 with a home run; Cameron Baldwin, 1 for 3 with a double; and Rance Haddox, 1 for 3.

Buckley worked all seven innings on the hill, giving up two runs on just three hits with 17 strikeouts and walked just three.

Hosting Seligman in a doubleheader on Thursday, the Wildcats had little problems in either game.

The first game was decided early as the Cats scored seven first inning runs, then added 13 in the second and six more in the third. The Antelopes scored once in the second.

Wildcats with three hits were Hulsey, Haddox and Baldwin. Those with two included KJ Kinlicheenie, Buckley, Ben Spurlock and Poudrier. Those with one hit were Trevor Davis, Dylan Romero, Latrelle Kinlicheenie and Kaden Moss. In total the Wildcats pounded out 21 hits in the win.

Hulsey and Poudrier each pitched two innings. Together they allowed just one run on one hit with eight strikeouts and walked two.

The second game was over nearly as quickly as the first. Joseph City opened with three runs in the first, then added nine in the second, two in the third and one in the fourth in the 15-4 win.

In this game Joseph City finished with 14 hits. Spurlock and Poudrier each went 2 for 2; Buckley, 2 for 3; and Baldwin, 2 for 4. KJ Kinlicheenie, Davis, Cota Smith, Romero, McCormick and Moss all had one hit.

Joseph City utilized five pitchers in the game. KJ Kinlicheenie, Hulsey, Smith, Romero and McCormick combined to allow four runs on four hits with nine strikeouts and walked six.

Hosting Red Rock Sedona on Saturday the Wildcats outlasted the 2A Scorpion 17-13.

The teams matched each other with four first inning runs. In the second Joseph City added another four runs to take an 8-4 lead into the third. Sedona trimmed away all but one of those runs in the top of the third, then took the lead with two runs in the fourth.

Trailing 10-8 going into the bottom of the fifth, Joseph City came roaring back with a seven-run inning to lead 15-10. The Scorpions added three more in the final two innings, but it wasn’t enough to keep the Wildcats from picking up their seventh win of the season.

The Wildcats entered this week ranked seventh in the 1A power points with a 5-3 regular season mark. They are scheduled to play six games in the next calendar week. After playing Mogollon on Tuesday in Heber, they will travel to Eagar to face Round Valley today (April 12). Friday will find them on the road for a doubleheader at Mayer.
