Playing as the 15th seed in the 3A state basketball bracket, the Snowflake Lady Lobos defeated No. 18 Coolidge last Tuesday night in an opening round match-up.

Hosting the Lady Bears, Snowflake built a double-digit halftime lead, then extended that margin to 20 points after three periods of play. Coolidge held the upper hand in the fourth, but the lead was too much and the Lobos advanced to the second round with a 58-46 win.

Emily Ballard led the Lobo offense with 14 points, including two three-point shots. Breklee Tanner and Elle Flake added 9 each; Nikita Olms and Bailee Flake, 6 each; Shanae Stratton and Madison Butler, 4 each; Alyssa Rolow, 3; Jessica Neff, 2; and Shelby Larson, 1.

Snowflake made five three-point shots and went 9 for 20 at the free throw line.

That win moved the Lobos into round two, where they met up with second seeded Page on Friday night at Monument Valley High School. The long trip plus the talented Lady Sand Devils proved too much for the Lobos as Page ended Snowflake’s season with a 57-27 win.

The Lobos finished their season with an overall record of 20-14.
