Alice Viola Haney, 85, passed away late in the evening of Thursday, Feb. 2, 2017, at her home in Heber at Chevelon Canyon from natural causes incident to her age. At this time, no services are planned. She was born on a Saturday, Jan. 23, 1932, in Millville, N.J., to the late Harry and Alice (Dickerson) McClyment. Alice moved to Arizona as a young woman in 1953. Throughout her life, she was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church. She spent her life at church as a Sunday School teacher and never tired of sharing the “Good News” of the Gospel. To her family she was a very loving mother and doting grandmother. She worked outside of the home for many years in the hotel industry as a housekeeper for Rodeway Inn. She taught her family, by example, the value of hard work and never shied away from doing the right thing. Survivors include her children, Eva Mollet of Mesa, Neal Haney of Mesa, Lois (Joseph) McKenzie of Heber and Alvin (Ruth) Haney of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Alice was preceded in death by her husband, Chester Haney, in September 2005. Memorial contributions in her name to the First Southern Baptist Church of Overgaard, P.O. Box 84, Overgaard, Ariz. 85933 have been suggested by her family. Owens Livingston Mortuary of Show Low was in charge of the arrangements.
