Snowflake’s Lady Lobos won two of three outings last week, improving their power point ranking to 15th at the beginning of the final week of the regular season. If they can remain in the top 16 they would host a first round state playoff game. With expected wins over Show Low and Blue Ridge in their final week, chances are the Lobos will be home in the first round of the state tournament, which begins in a couple of weeks.

The Lobos began their most recent three-game stretch with a 69-24 road win over Payson last Tuesday. They shot the ball extremely well early, putting up 28 first period points. They outscored the Lady Longhorns in each of the subsequent three periods to secure the region win.

Emily Ballard led the way on 7 of 9 shooting for 18 total points. Elle Flake added 16; Nikita Olms, 10; Shanae Stratton, 8; Camaria Reidhead, 6; Bailee Flake, 5; and Madison Butler, Breklee Tanner and Shelby Larson, 2 each.

Snowflake made 5 of 19 three-point shots and went 8 for 9 at the free throw line.

Playing at home against Round Valley two nights later, both teams shot well early and the Lady Elks held a 19-17 first period lead. In the second the Lobos continued with the hot hand and their defense cooled off the Elks, leaving Snowflake with a 10-point halftime lead.

The Lobos scored just 12 second half points, but it was enough to secure the 47-41 win.

Butler led the way with 16 points. Olms added 9; Elle Flake, 8; Reidhead, 5; Tanner, 4; Ballard and Bailee Flake, 2 each; and Stratton, 1.

The Lobos made just one three-point shot and went 8 for 14 at the line.

Last Friday night Holbrook visited and the fifth ranked Lady Roadrunners pulled away in the fourth quarter of a physical contest, handing Snowflake a 50-40 loss.

Both teams netted 11 in the first and Snowflake edged in front by one at the half. In the third Holbrook built a slim two-point lead. The final period was the difference. Holbrook put up 18 points and held the Lobos to just 10 to secure the win.

Olms led Snowflake with 14 points. Elle Flake added 8; Stratton, 5; Ballard and Bailee Flake, 4 each; Tanner and Reidhead, 2 each; and Butler, 1.

Snowflake made three treys and went 5 for 9 at the line.

After playing at Show Low on Tuesday, the Lobos will close out the regular season on Friday when they host Blue Ridge. The East Region tournament begins next week, with the Lobos most likely hosting an opening round game on Tuesday.

The Lobos entered the final week with an overall season mark of 15-11 and were 7-9 in power point contests.
