The Lady Roadrunners were slated to tip off the basketball season on Monday at the Queen Creek Turkey Shootout. After playing four games at the large school tournament they will have time to prepare for their regular season opening game, which will be at Blue Ridge on Friday, Dec. 2. They travel to Safford the following day. Like the boys team, the Lady Birds will host Alchesay on Dec. 6, giving hometown fans their first look at this year’s version of both basketball programs. Players on the varsity roster include seniors; Dishie Kinlicheenie, Ariyana Pratt, Alishea Kee and Shoshawna Jack. They are joined by juniors Elena Smith, Twyla Clark, Dakota Dick, Tyler Pacheco, Tyanna Smith and Rayanna Wauneka. Three sophomores, Sevanah Bitahy, Megan Cummings, and Tristen Ambrose, are joined on the team by freshman Madisen Chappell. Holbrook is once again coached by Greg Perkins, with Frank Stacey coaching the junior varsity team and Aaron LaRose overseeing the freshman group. Shantina Kinlicheenie will be a volunteer coach.
