During the special meeting of the Holbrook City Council held Nov. 15, the council met with the City Attorney Marlene Pontrelli of the Dickinson Wright law firm in regards to the water agreement between Holbrook and Sun Valley, as well as the interim city manager position.
Before going into executive session, Pontrelli stated that the city has acted in accordance with the agreement that was made with Sun Valley.
After the meeting Interim City Manager Randy Sullivan stated that for the agreement to increase the water fees by $6 across the board is acceptable, but any discussion of increasing rates exclusively to Sun Valley residents using city water will be put on hold. “If we were to ever change rates and charge Sun Valley more, we will have to do a new study.”
Sullivan said for the new study he would contact other system operators, such as Arizona Water Company, which handles Pinetop and Heber water.
Another matter addressed in executive session was the interim city manager’s contract. While in regular session, Vice Mayor Wade Carlisle and Councilwoman Francie Payne noted that they felt the issue had been decided and they had no concerns regarding the current contract.
No action was taken on either item discussed in executive session.
While in regular session, the board approved claims and payment for Nov. 3-9 totaling $37,777.49.
