Despite winning their past four power point volleyball matches, the Lady Lobos had dipped in the rankings to the No. 4 spot at the onset of this week. With wins over Holbrook, Show Low, Blue Ridge and Winslow their last four times out, Snowflake moved its season record to 11-2, but fell behind Northwest Christian, Valley Christian and Fountain Hills in the rankings. The state tournament will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 4 and 5, and there is no question that Snowflake will be there. The only question is what will their final seed be in the 16-team bracket.
Last week the ladies defeated Blue Ridge 3-0 on Tuesday and took down Winslow on Wednesday by the same score.
In the Blue Ridge match Snowflake set the tone early, dominating game one with a 25-3 win. The Lobos took game two 25-16, then finished off the Lady Yellowjackets in game three, 25-22.
Erin Willis led the team in kills with 12 and Elle Flake added 10. Chandler Johnson had five; Talitha Binnie, three; Hallie Bauer and Janessa Elkins, two each; and Lauren Hunt, one.
Snowflake served 11 aces, led by Willis with 4. Katlyn Papa and Shanae Stratton had three each, and Binnie had one.
Willis and Bauer each had three blocks. Makayla Ramage led the way in digs with 14 and Mandy Stewart added 11. Katlyn Papa, Rachel Peterson, Binnie and Willis each had four digs. Papa led in assists with 16 and Stratton added 12. Elkins helped with five assists.
After hosting Payson on Tuesday, the Lobos will play at Holbrook on Thursday, Oct. 20. Their final week of the regular season begins with a home court match against Show Low on Tuesday, Oct. 25, followed by a trip to Lakeside on Thursday, Oct. 27, to meet Blue Ridge for the conclusion of the regular season.
