School Board

During the Aug. 10 meeting of the Holbrook Unified School District Governing Board, Superintendent Robbie Koerperich summarized projects completed for the district over the summer. The projects not only added to the beautification of the district’s campuses, but improved building and land use.

The projects included the parking lot at the George Gardner Performing Arts Center, which went from dirt to asphalt with parking stripes and curbs. The same was done at Indian Wells Elementary School and also included the drive leading up to the school.

At the performing arts center, the area between the parking lot and the buildings was landscaped with gravel and drainage concrete was laid.

Renovations were also done to existing spaces at Holbrook High School for the special education room and the TALON classroom, which will connect students with courses at Northland Pioneer College through video conferencing.

At Hulet Elementary School, the old gym was renovated and is now the Don’t Quit Fitness Center, with fitness equipment to be added courtesy of a $100,000 fitness grant the school was awarded.

In addition, the dirt drive and parking lot at IWES were paved, with the parking lot asphalted and striped, and the areas between the road and parking lot graveled.

Other projects included painting building trim and laying concrete pathways on the campuses.
