A Holbrook man was hospitalized after claiming an unknown assailant attacked him with a knife while he was walking on Buffalo Street last week.
According to the Holbrook Police Department, Damian Benton, 20, was assaulted by an unknown assailant, and stabbed twice in the abdomen and once in the arm as he and another man were walking along Buffalo Street at 9:50 p.m. on Monday, June 20.
A 17-year-old boy at the scene also sustained a cut to his hand. Both the boy and Benton said that an unknown third person was at the scene with a knife, and that the boy had attempted to intervene and was cut. Both parties were involved in an earlier incident in which a 20-year-old woman alleged that Benton, who was intoxicated, had been at her home and touched her inappropriately, and was told to leave. Immediately after the incident, she called the boy and met him near Holbrook Junior High School on Buffalo Street, where the altercations occurred.
Benton was transported to Little Colorado Medical Center in Winslow for treatment of his injuries. He was released later in the week. The boy was treated at the scene.
Police are continuing their investigation of the incident.
