George Eldon Shelley, 86, of Mesa passed away Saturday, May 21, 2016, after suffering a stroke. Funeral services were held May 28 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1852 N. Stapley in Mesa. Graveside services were held later that day at the Joseph City Cemetery. He was born in Joseph City on Nov. 13, 1929, to George Elsmore and Margaret Cleo Butler Shelley. He was the seventh of 10 children. Eldon married Zaida Marian Despain on Sept. 15, 1948, in the Mesa Temple. They raised six children in Joseph City, Robert, Richard, Reed, Lyn, Eldona and Shelley Marie. He worked for Arizona Public Service Co., and many years in Winslow helping with tax services and accounting. Eldon married Barbara (Bobbie) Tucker on Nov. 27, 1999. They served as Mesa Temple ordinance workers, and served two LDS missions to Santiago Chile East and the Guadalajara Mexico Temple. Bunker’s Garden Chapel of Mesa was in charge of the arrangements.
