The Winslow Bulldogs won two games and lost one on the road last week. On Wednesday they lost to the Roadrunners 4-2 at Holbrook. On Friday, they defeated the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets 10-4 at Lakeside. On Saturday, the Bulldogs defeated the Sand Devils 10-6 at Page. The results left Winslow with a record of 15-9 with only three games left in the regular season.
In the loss to Holbrook, Matt Ramos took the loss, giving up four runs on just four hits and a walk. Rey Chavez-Velez gave up one run on a hit and a walk. Both pitchers worked three innings.
Holbrook took a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning on a double by Cade Maestas and a home run by Nick Robinson, both coming after two were out. The margin increased to 3-0 in the second inning on a home run by Tristan Baldonado. Winslow cut the lead to 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning on a walk to Darrien “Peanut” Brown, and singles by Junior Villanueva and Nate Hollins. Holbrook scored the final run on a walk and a double by Scottie Gishie. Winslow’s only other hit was a single by Kuster Kinlicheenie.
In the 10-4 win over Blue Ridge, Kinlicheenie went the full seven innings for the victory, giving up four runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits and a walk while fanning nine.
Blue Ridge took a 4-1 lead in the bottom of the first inning after Winslow scored on a single by C.J. Chacon, an error and two walks. The Yellowjackets collected three of their six hits in that inning, as well as a walk. The Bulldogs scored seven times in the top of the fifth inning on four walks, a hit batsman and five hits for an 8-4 lead, then scored one run in each of the last two innings.
Chacon was 4 for 4 with two doubles to lead the Bulldogs at the plate. Ramos was 2 for 2 with a double. Kinlicheenie was 1 for 1 with a double. Matt Bollin was 2 for 4 with a double. Hollins was 1 for 3. Brown was 1 for 4.
In the 10-6 win over Page, Brown got the win, working 61/3 innings and giving up four unearned runs on one hit and 10 walks while fanning 10. Villanueva and Ramos each worked a third of an inning, with Villanueva giving up two runs on two hits.
Winslow built a 9-0 lead before Page scored a run in the sixth inning and five in the seventh.
Hollins was 3 for 4 to lead the Bulldogs at the plate. Villanueva was 2 for 4. Brown and Bollin were both 1 for 2. Chavez-Velez was 2 for 5. Kinlicheenie was 1 for 4.
The Bulldogs will host the Snowflake Lobos today (April 20), and complete the regular season at Payson on Friday, April 22, and against the Sand Devils on Tuesday, April 26, at Winslow.
