Hosting 15 teams at their own invitational track meet last Friday, the Joseph City Wildcats finished in fourth place in both the boys’ and girls’ rankings. Show Low, St. Johns and Chinle took the top three spots in both divisions.
For the Wildcats in the boys’ 100 meter dash, Joe Burt placed 14th with a time of 12.84.
In the 200 meter dash, Joe Burt finished 15th in 27.17.
Forester Flake won the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.08.
In the 800 meter run, Forester Flake once again took top honors, finishing with a time of 2:10. Eligh Ashcroft was seventh, Max Mosier was 16th and Stephen Williams was 25th.
In the 1600 meter run, Talon Smith placed second with a time of 4:43 and Stephen Williams was 24th.
In the 3200 meter run, Eligh Ashcroft was 10th with a time of 11:37.
Forester Flake, Max Mosier, Eligh Ashcroft and Talon Smith combined to finish second in the 4×800 meter relay with a time of 8:52.
In the shot put, Adrian Baloo was sixth with a toss of 35-01, Ben Spurlock finished 11th and Brandon Yazzie was 17th.
In the discus, Matt Fields placed fourth with a throw of 99-00, Adrian Baloo was 14th and Brandon Yazzie was 26th.
In the high jump, Josh Fisher placed fourth, clearing 5-04.
Matt Fields took first in the long jump with a distance of 20-00.5, Joe Burt was 19th and Josh Fisher was 22nd.
In the girls’ 100 meter dash, Tricia Morgan placed 20th with a time of 16.06.
In the 400 meter dash, Kaylie Gardner placed fourth with a time of 1:08 and Leigh Neal was 20th.
In the 800 meter run, Kaylie Gardner took second place with a time of 2:43, Shyann Flake was 13th and Abby Hunt was 19th.
In the 300 meter hurdles, Rachel Layden placed fourth with a time of 55.74 and Leigh Neal was 10th in 1:21.
The quartet of Tricia Morgan, Alyssa Hutchens, Leigh Neal and Sarah Layden placed fourth in the 4×100 meter relay with a time of 1:00.5.
In the 4×800 meter relay, Sarah Layden, Shyann Flake, Rachel Layden and Kaylie Gardner finished third with a time of 11:08.
Hailey Rush finished 16th in the shot put with a toss of 21-01.
In the discus, Hailey Rush was 20th with a throw of 47-06.
In the long jump, Tricia Morgan placed ninth with a distance of 12-03 and Alyssa Hutchens was 11th just two inches behind her.
